New Tutoring Program
Starting from September, BostonMS has started a new program where the members of BostonMS tutor students who may have been interfered with their ability to learn and grow. The goal of this program is to support students who aren't able to obtain their best educational needs due to financial or physical problems and help them get back on their feet to study. Students will be able to work individually with a tutor to set their goals and overcome their academic challenges. We believe that with the help of the tutors, students will be able to be one step closer to have more success and great opportunities for their future. Each student having individual tutors to help them achieve their academic goals will motivate students to work harder and create bigger goals as they improve academically.
To learn more, I interviewed the president of this program, Alexander Lho. When I asked what his personal goal for this program was, he said his goals were to guide tutors and help students to find interest and become better learners. "Not only do I want the best potential out of my students, but as for other students who I don't teach 1 on 1 as well." Although the program is focusing on classes of English language, Alex mentioned that he has plans for the future of the program expanding to different languages such as Spanish, Latin, or even German. "I believe that knowing more languages opens more doors and opportunities for the future of oneself and helps us connect with diverse populations.", he said. Primarily, he was only helping out the Victory School in Malaysia by donating but he wanted to do more and came up with an idea to support students who have a hard time due to the pandemic. As a tutor, he teaches subjects such as English, Spanish, Math, and Chemistry. He makes slides that contain information for a tutoring session, assigns homework, and meets with other tutors to discuss their strengths and weaknesses so that they can improve the education program. He told me, "My responsibility is to help students so that they in return can help themselves target for success."
For those who want to join Alex and other tutors to support and help students to achieve their academic goals, contact our BostonMS.org supervisor, Christine Lee(consultant@bostonms.com), or Alexander Lho(alho23@icloud.com). After an interview with them, you will be able to volunteer as a tutor. All tutors have to work at least a year for the students. For students to sign up for the tutoring program, go to our homepage and click the red button "Find Tutor".
As always, we appreciate all of the efforts to help students with their education so that they could have a better future. Thank you to everyone who donates and supports our cause.
